While concerns about the economic situation are at the top of everyone’s radar, this doesn’t mean it’s time for retailers to hunker down and wait for it to pass. In fact, retailers who do nothing and don’t take steps to enhance the financial performance of their business in this economic climate are likely to suffer some severe financial losses, which could culminate in insolvency. Instead, take active steps now to protect your business.

1. Think Positive

Despite the news on the general state of retail, natural sector industry sales are holding up well. The last report from market research firm SPINS indicated sales were up broadly across the sector and same store orders in the Living Naturally online ordering network have been up more than 10 percent during the past six months. Things could be much, much worse—just ask the auto dealers. People still want to buy natural products and supplements, so don’t stop marketing. Be positive.

2. Pay Less

At this critical time, it’s important to shop around for the best deals possible when purchasing products. Online sources are available in the natural products industry with thousands of deals posted each month. Get access to these sources and make sure you are not paying more than you need. Every penny saved when purchasing products is a penny more profit.
