Breaking a sweat is a sure-fire way to burn fat, but without the important vitamin C, that fat may just stick around, according to the YouDocs, Michael Roizen, M.D. and Mehmet Oz, M.D. in their Q&A blog. They mention a study where people with low blood concentrations of vitamin C burned 25 percent less fat after walking on a treadmill for an hour compared with people who had adequate levels of the citrus vitamin.

The YouDocs said the reason is vitamin C makes carnitine, a substance that turns fat into fuel. They recommend taking 1,200 mg/d of vitamin C.

Other questions in their Q&A focused on the vitamin D test and weather affecting headaches.
