NBA’s Nash Enters Supplement Biz

Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns is well-known for providing assists to his teammates. Soon, he may also be known for providing assists to consumers looking for a nutritional boost, and to retailers who sell natural products. Nash recently became a partner in Arizona-based OneBodē, a nutritional supplement company that offers whole-food based products.

While many athletes and celebrities endorse products, Nash is actually a part of the business and genuinely committed to it. He maintains a natural- and organic-focused diet, stays away from processed foods, and reports great benefits from his use of supplements.

Nash recently spoke with Natural Products Marketplace about nutrition, the new venture and why he is doing it. For starters, Nash believes diet is incredibly important to his performance, attributing both the length of his career and his ability to recover to his balanced lifestyle of proper training, rest and nutrition, including supplements.

“In our fast-paced society, we take on so much and we need something to supplement the diet,” he told NPM. “Food options on short notice can be difficult.”

Nash said his diet has gradually changed over the years. “I used to eat pasta before a game, until I realized a lot of the pasta out there isn’t really the best for you,” he said. “It got to a point where I just wanted to simplify. I try to eat as many natural and organic foods as I can.”

He believes nutrition is not just important for athletes, but for anyone trying to reach their potential. And delivering that message to people of all ages and walks of life seems to be the main reason that Nash is getting into the nutrition industry.

“I want to share the experiences I’ve had, and I’d like to be a part of changing the way athletes and all people lead their lifestyles,” he said.
