Consumers are looking for quick bits of health information, and in her “Dear Pharmacist” column in the Tulsa World, Suzy Cohen delivers. In her most recent column she shared some of the most recent health findings including:

  • Healthy Omega-3s: Beyond just heart health, a recent study shows they may reduce symptoms of psychosis. “Omega-3 fatty acids nourish the brain, they are inexpensive and well-tolerated.”
  • Spicy Brain Food: Curcumin works to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, and taking it with vitamin D3 may enhance the effects.
  • Fruit for Health: Apple pectin may increase the number of probiotics in the gut, improving digestion, while pomegranates contain ellagitannin, which may help prevent breast cancer, especially the type that is estrogen-driven.
  • Tea for (More Than) Two: White tea appears to encourage weight loss, while green tea fights lung cancer; people who do not drink green tea have a five-fold increased risk of lung cancer.
