Police Cpl. Jeff Zeen not only is protecting the public on the streets of south Ontario, Calif., but is looking out for their good health and nutrition as well, as the co-owner of the Max Muscle Sports Nutrition store here. In a profile for The Sun, Jannise Johnson talked with Zeen about his interest in nutrition, as well as his decision to franchise a Max Muscle operation, which he attributed to the chain’s emphasis on store employee training and customer service. “The knowledge and customer service is above the industry standard,” Zeen told Johnson, adding, “People get information and knowledge, and they keep coming back.”
Zeen has some company from the department, as Patric Birdsong, a competitive bodybuilder and cadet with the Ontario Police Department, is one of the store’s employees. He worked formerly as a personal trainer, but enjoys talking with customers to help them improve their health or meet exercise goals.
The store also sponsors the Ontario Reign hockey team and gives nutrition advice to some high school football teams, Zeen said. The outreach is paying off, as the store has been open for a year and is now in the black after spending time building its customer base.
