In honor of October Fair Trade Month, Alter Eco will hold the Alter Eco Fair Trade Cooking Challenge where chefs of every skill level create and post their Fair Trade recipes on the Alter Eco Web site. Participants can submit their recipes for inclusion in the Alter Eco Virtual Community Cookbook and will be eligible to win Alter Eco products, gift baskets and the chance to have trees planted in their honor in the Peruvian Amazon. Participants will also be acknowledged for their support and creative use of Fair Trade Certified™ products like Alter Eco’s Purple Jasmine Rice or White Quinoa.

While I doubt I will be entering the contest, I am always up for new recipes and will be checking the final Alter Eco Virtual Community Cookbook for new additions to my cooking routine. Who couldn’t use more recipes based on the Fair Trade principles of sustainability, fair prices, and high social and environmental standards?
