The Stonyfield Story
When a product carries an organic certification, I imagine they care about the health of the planet and the animals that helped create the product. I assume the company is made of green-loving individuals that have overcome obstacles to achieve their prestigious organic label.
But I hardly ever know the story. This week, an online exclusive from Newsweek, let me in on the narrative behind Stonyfield Yogurt; and I found it to be quite a compelling one.
It’s a tale of youth expectations, hurdles, heart break, possible divorce and debt. In the article, CEO Gary Hirshberg tells the story in his own words. He even explains why he sold more than 80 percent of the company to the large French company Danone.
Check it out; I’m sure you’ll be entertained.
