Natural Products Industry Steps Up to Support Haiti

We have seen tons of devastation in Haiti since the massive earth quake struck two weeks ago. The quake and its aftershocks have left 150,000+ dead and thousands more homeless. On a personal level, it’s very easy to make a quick donation.  From a business standpoint, it’s easy to support the relief effort too.

Here are a few inspirational ideas from industry leaders:

Vitamin Angels has always been a leader in supplementing children in foreign countries. They have responded by shipping over 1 million children’s multivitamins to assist in disaster relief. After the present crisis is addressed, Vitamin Angels plans to focus efforts on long-term strategies for alleviating micronutrient deficiencies.  Contact Vitamin Angles if you are interested in making a monetary donation for these efforts.

Also, consider getting your customers involved too, perhaps by setting up a charitable donation program at your store. Whole Foods customers have already given over 1 million dollars for Haitian Relief.

This is a great time to stock your inventory and place order with companies supporting Haitian relief. Nordic Naturals will be donating 1 percent of sales on their best selling product, Ultimate Omega, in the month of February. Renew Life will be donating 1 percent of all online sales to the Red Cross. In addition, Renew Life, has donated product and set up attractive match program for employee donations.

Finally, support companies and organization that have stepped up with product and service donations. For example, Mineral Research international has donated electrolytes for hydration of Haitian citizens. Also, Homeopaths Without Borders is a non-profit 5013c which will be sending support to
Haiti soon; they are currently taking monetary donations and volunteers for this journey.

Keep in mind, a personal donation is important. But your retail store has the power to do more!  Get involved today.
