‘Going Green’ on the Rise

The market research firm attributed the green movement’s growth to young adults. In its latest survey, more than half of 18 to 24 year olds (51 percent) said they regularly purchase green products. “Tech-savvy young adults have been key in the green movement’s success,” said Colleen Ryan, senior analyst, Mintel. “This suggests a bright future for green products. as young adults will carry their habits and beliefs with them as they age.” Ryan added drivers such as climate change, energy coasts and product safety will continue to create a need for environmentally friendly products and services. “Americans see greener purchases as a smart choice for both their pocketbooks and the planet,” she said. “Green shopping, both major and everyday, is definitely here to stay.”
