Report: Children Denied Omega-3s Due To Embelished Warnings

09/04/2008

WASHINGTON─ More than a quarter-million underprivileged children were unnecessarily denied critical omega-3 fatty acids due to government and activist mercury warnings, the Center for Consumer Freedom (CFF) claimed in a recent report. The report, “Tuna Meltdown,” stated that over a quarter-million children of households that earn $30,000 or less were denied healthy omega3s because their mothers did not buy tuna during pregnancies. Further more, the report argued that canned tuna is the only source of omega-3s for Americans in this income range as they cannot afford other omega-3 rich foods such as salmon or flaxseed oil.
