Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company Utilizes Wind Power

SANTA FE, N.M.—Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company is now exclusively using wind mills to power its manufacturing plant Oxford, North Carolina and at its distribution center in Sparks, Nevada. “Purchasing wind-generated electricity costs the company more than electricity generated from conventional sources, such as oil and coal,” said Rick Sanders, president and CEO. “But the benefit of promoting clean and renewable energy was an important factor in our decision.” The company is also trying to attain the international standards organization’s environmental certification.
