SANTA MONICA, Calif.—Alternative Health Journal launched its alternative health version of the mainstream site WebMD, integrating Web 2.0 functionality, original editorial and user-generated content with a focus on natural and alternative health care solutions for consumers. Visitors to the Web site will find a broad range of content on alternative health care, dietary supplements, natural products and more. Community members can also upload articles and videos, share expertise, participate in forums and blogs, comment on content, and utilize an integrated search function; there is also an e-newsletter available.

“When I began researching the alternative health space on the Web, I was amazed to see the lack of quality information portals,” said Erin Jansen, editor-in-chief. “Like many people, I am passionate about alternative health and medicine, but found no modern, reliable Web sites with current news or information that helped me research homeopathic remedies or get the latest information I need on a regular basis.”

Robert Reiss, president, added: “We want to give people the opportunity to learn about alternative health solutions instead of relying solely on western medicine or drugs. Health is personal. People go online to search for health information that’s particular to whatever is ailing them, so we also wanted to give people the opportunity to share their health stores, whether it’s in a video, article, essay, natural cure, or in our forums.”
