UPPER SADDLE RIVER, NJHunter Douglas has agreed to make an annual contribution to the Arbor Day Foundation® which encourages such replenishment through its mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.

The Hunter Douglas donation will be split evenly between tree reforestation and rain forest preservation programs, with 50 percent going to replant trees in the U.S. damaged by fire and 50 percent to the Foundation’s Rain Forest Rescue® program. The total amount of the annual Hunter Douglas contribution will reflect the number of trees used annually for its hardwood shutters and wood blinds over the course of the year beginning 2008.

To restore the consumption of our renewable wood products, Hunter Douglas is committed to protecting the environment by replenishing trees and globally preserving rain forests,” said Kevin Armstrong, vice president and general manager of the Horizontal Blinds Division. “In 2008 our contribution will plant 15,000 trees and preserve more than a million square feet of rain forest.”
