WASHINGTON—Cargill and Whole Earth Sweeteners are enjoying the green GRAS on the other side of the FDA notification fence, after the federal agency issued letters of no objection to the agribusiness firms marketing their stevia sweeteners for use in foods and beverages. Pepsi is preparing to launch beverages using Whole Earth’s PureVia™, while beverages from Coke’s Odwalla group using Cargill’s Truvia™ are on their way to retail shelves this week.
