ORLAND PARK, Ill.—Free From Market is a new one-stop shop for people who suffer from food, chemical and environmental allergies. The store was opened by Peter DeRousse, a father of two daughters that suffer from life-threatening allergies and gluten intolerances. The Orlando Park, Ill. store boasts the largest selection of allergy free and gluten free foods in the Midwest as well as organic and petroleum-free health and beauty products, pharmaceutical-grade supplements, air purifiers, dust-mite repellant linens and chemical-free cleaners. Shoppers can use a database that filters products by food allergies and which lists manufacturers' precautions for reducing cross-contamination. In addition, DeRousse said that every product in the store must clearly list every ingredient on the packaging.
