MONTEREY, Calif.—The Monterey Bay Aquarium created a new “SuperGreen” list of seafood that is both harvested sustainably and rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs). They say this list offers insight to consumers about which seafood options are “good for you and good for the oceans.”

The list was created by using research from conservation and public health organizations and includes seafood that contains contaminates below 216 parts per billion (ppb) mercury and 11 ppb PCBs; and contains at least 250 mg of omega-3s.

However, they caution this list is designed for men and women; and children should eat proportioned sized.

The SuperGreen Lists is:

  • Albacore Tuna (troll- or pole-caught, from the U.S. or British Columbia)
  • Mussels (farmed)
  • Oysters (farmed)
  • Pacific Sardines (wild-caught)
  • Pink Shrimp (wild-caught, from Oregon)
  • Rainbow Trout (farmed)
  • Salmon (wild-caught, from Alaska)
  • Spot Prawns (wild-caught, from British Columbia)

Other Healthy "Best Choices" are:
