BLOOMINGDALE, Ill.—The State of Illinois recognized NOW Foods for its ongoing efforts in waste reduction and environmental sustainability. This marks the second consecutive year in which NOW Foods has received the Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award.

NOW Foods was one of 38 Illinois’ businesses recognized for their significant achievements in protecting the environment, helping sustain the future and improving the economy. The Governor’s Sustainability Awards were presented by the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) at the award ceremony luncheon in Champaign, IL. ISTC is a division of the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability at the University of Illinois. Since 1987, ISTC has presented Governors awards to organizations in Illinois that have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through outstanding and innovative sustainability practices.

“This award recognizes the hard work and commitment of many individuals and departments within NOW Foods,” said Jim Emme, NOW’s COO. “While we are pleased with our progress, we have additional plans that include increasing the use of recycled materials in our packaging, improving energy efficiency by re-using heat from air compressors, researching the use of wind energy for our facility, and pursuing LEED-ED certification.”
