BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.V .—The American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists’ organization of volunteers, Homeopaths Without Borders-NA (HWB), is preparing to provide assistance in Haiti in response to the major earthquake that brought tragedy to the impoverished nation. The nonprofit 501 (c)(3) corporation is developing a plan to assist in the treatment of youngsters in targeted orphanages and to educate on-site caregivers in the use of homeopathic remedies. The project will be initiated as soon as military and government personnel indicate that travel to Haiti is permissible.

In a press release, HWB states its focus is on:

  • Establishing contact with medical personnel known to HWB who are in Haiti or the Dominican Republic;
  • Assessing needs as described by these contacts;
  • Determining a target orphanage or orphanages;
  •  Developing a cadre of volunteers, which thy said is already underway;
  • Raising funds for supplies and to support our volunteers; and
  • Getting the word out that HWA will play a role in the recovery of Haiti.
