Sprouts Opens First LEED Store

PHOENIX—Sprouts Farmers Market will open in Culver City, CA, on June 23, 2010, featuring savings on fresh foods and free reusable totes for all purchases throughout the day. The Culver City market is the first in the chain to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. Based on the Green Building Rating System that was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides a suite of standards for the environmentally sustainable design, construction and operation of buildings and neighborhoods.

At 7 a.m. at the new location (5660 Sepulveda Blvd.) the grand-opening sale start with The One Big Sale, a $1 and $2 sale on a variety of popular items through Sunday, June 27. Additionally, on opening day, all purchases will be bagged in free green reusable Sprouts bags and customers can enjoy samples while they shop.

The Culver City location will join other California markets in Brea, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Claremont, El Cajon, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Orange, Riverside, San Marcos, Seal Beach, Sunnyvale, Thousand Oaks, Torrance and Tustin. New locations in Pasadena and Valencia are scheduled to open in August and September. By the end of the year, Sprouts will have 54 locations throughout Arizona, California, Colorado and Texas.
