CHICO, Calif.—The ChicoBag Company held a “Don’t Feed the Bag Monster" demonstration in San Francisco, where 70 “Bag Monsters" marched through the city in support of reducing single use waste in California. The monsters were made of plastic bags that represent the number of single-use plastic bags an average American will use in his lifetime.
The “Don’t Feed the Bag Monster" event in San Francisco was a kickoff event for the Bag Monster’s (embodied by Andy Keller) tour across the country. He is bringing a lifetime of single-use plastic bag waste across the country. The Bag Monster will be traveling all over the country educating the public on the harms of single-use. He has already moved through Portland and Seattle, where he has been featured on CBS Portland, CBS Seattle, FOX Seattle, Seattle Times and the Seattle Weekly.
The Bag Monster will be in Boise on Wednesday, Aug 18, 2010; Salt Lake City, on Thursday, Aug. 19; and Telluride, CO on Friday, Aug. 20. The next week he will be in Denver; Albuquerque, NM; Roswell, NM; and Dallas.
Consumers are invited to take the pledge to stop using single-use bags on the Bag Monster’s Web site. They can also follow the Bag Monster on Facebook and on twitter.
