DAYVILLE, Conn.—Durapod Systems Ltd., a New Zealand manufacturer and supplier of retail bulk food bins, expanded its international reach to the U.S. market with its Gravity and Scoop bins. Durapod Systems (USA) Inc. established an office and distribution center along with a wood shop to design and fabricate custom wood fixtures in Dayville, CT. The bins can be fitted to typical supermarket gondola systems with specially designed shelving and shelf liners to fit any bin combination. Both the Durapod Gravity and Scoop bins are molded with a co-polyester (BPA-free) material that provides exceptional heat-resistance, durability and clarity.
The gravity dispenser (4 gal) comes with either a pull-down arm for easy filling or as a standard non pull-down bin. Durapod scoop bins come in three sizes: 8 inch (2.5 gallon), 12 inch (4.1 gallon) and 16 inch (5.7 gallon.) All scoop bins have a self-closing lid device ensuring that unattended bins are returned to the closed position at all times and have rear-opening lids to enable back filling for proper stock rotation. The modular style of both gravity and scoop bins makes them easy to disassemble for cleaning. Durapod bins meet the standards of NSF/ANSI 2-2005, the recognized Food Equipment Standard worldwide.
According to Ken Hargraves, Durapod’s president, “Bulk food sales have shown increased sales growth in 2009 and higher margins than pre-packaged goods. The consumer benefits economically by purchasing just the amount they need, and with Durapod Systems, we offer the peace of mind that the dispensing bin is safe, reliable and BPA-free."
