AYER, Mass.—Nasoya released Super Hummus, formulated with soy to deliver twice the protein and half the fat as more traditional chickpea-based hummus. Nasoya substituted soybeans for chickpeas, reduced the amount of added oil, and used protein-rich soymilk in place of water; it also contains sesame tahini, soy sauce, cooked chickpeas (for flavor), lactic acid and natural flavors. Each 2 tablespoon serving delivers 4 g of protein and 3 g of fat.

“Americans are already embracing hummus as part of the Mediterranean diet, a widely accepted approach to healthy eating," said Susan Rolnick, vice president of marketing. “By creating a hummus without the fat and empty calories of traditional dips, Super Hummus is providing a healthy ‘Super Snack’!"

Super Hummus comes in two varieties: Classic Original with a nutty flavor, and Spinach Garlic, combining soybeans with garlic and spinach. Both all-natural, preservative-free products come in 10-oz. containers to be marketed in the refrigerated produce or dairy section.
