UKIAH, Calif.—Pamela’s Products announced three of its products received the Kid Kritics Seal of Approval; the company’s Baking & Pancake Mix, Single-Serve Brownie Mix and Simplebites Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies were so recognized. Kid Kritics is an ongoing brand awareness program whereby children taste-test products with recipes and ingredients found to meet the standards of the organization’s Ingredient Certification Board.
Pamela Giusto-Sorrells, founder of Pamela’s Products, will be interviewed on Aug. 13 on Better Food Choice Radio with host Ellen Briggs, co-founder and president of Kid Kritics. Guisto-Sorrells commented: "I was thrilled with our high marks from the kids! My passion is to make gluten-free foods that taste good so that kids (in particular) don't have to feel funny about the foods they eat. I remember how different the 'natural foods' from my family's bakery were when compared to what my friends at school ate. … I wanted kids to be able to enjoy their foods and share with their friends without any stigmas attached."
Children aged 5 to 14 make up the Kid Kritics panel, and answer yes or no to four questions about appearance, scent, taste and whether their family should serve it. Only products that have 70-percent or higher approval ratings are OK’d. In addition, products must meet the ingredient standards, such as no hydrogenated oils or trans fats, no artificial additives, and using only natural source ingredients that retain original nutrients (such as whole grain flour versus bleached flour).
