COTTONWOOD, Ariz.—Sedona Labs launched XanthaView™ Vision Formula, which features specific dosages of B vitamins that help support healthy eye function, particularly in the central portion of the eye called the macula.

According to the company, XanthaView is based on a double blind study by Harvard researchers (Christen, Archives of Internal Medicine, Feb 23, 2009). The study found women taking high dosages of specific B vitamins over seven and a half years had 41-percent better long-term eye health – especially health of their central vision – than women who did not take the B vitamins. The researchers believed the B vitamins may work by reducing levels of homocysteine and by acting as an antioxidant.

“Improvement in central eye health from taking lutein, zeaxanthin and other antioxidants has been in the 20 percent to 30 percent range. Adding the B vitamins gives a dramatic boost to the health of the aging eye," said Donna Cappiello, national sales director for Sedona Labs. She added Sedona Labs uses only high-quality B vitamins, sourced from Europe.

In addition to B vitamins, XanthaView includes lutein, zeaxanthin, astaxanthin, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and copper. These ingredients are included to help support resistance to glare and eye strain. These natural antioxidants also support eye health when the eyes are exposed to excess blue light, which may lead to higher levels of oxidation. Blue light exposure occurs in bright sunshine, in bright fluorescent light, and in long hours in front of computer terminals. The EUREYE Study published in 2008 found the antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin specifically helped support macular eye health in older people exposed to high levels of sunlight.
