NORWALK, Conn.–Stew Leonard’s will begin offering on-site physicals for its staff members at their Danbury, CT, store, starting Monday, August 30. On that date, the 12 staff members will report to a conference room above the store for blood work, an EKG, and complete physical. Inter State Diagnostic’s doctors and nurses will provide privacy screens and all necessary medical equipment, and they will take time to meet with each staff member regarding their healthcare-related questions. A translator for Stew Leonard’s Spanish-speaking employees will also be on hand.
“Stew Leonard’s surveyed our team members, and we found that a lack of time and not having a trusted doctor locally kept many from getting their yearly physicals," said Jill Leonard Tavello, executive vice president of culture and communications at Stew Leonard’s. “By bringing the doctors and nurses from Inter State Diagnostic directly to our store in Danbury, we hope to keep our team members healthy and reinforce the importance of preventive care."
Walter Watson, Stew Leonard’s Director of Safety and Wellness, added, “We hope as many team members as possible take advantage of the convenience of having their annual physical performed on-site at the store in Danbury. Stew Leonard’s encourages all of our team members to make smart, healthy choices in their everyday lives. and a yearly physical is an important part of their overall well-being."
On-site cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, mammograms and flu shots are already offered throughout year for Stew Leonard’s 2,500 staff members, and discounts on weight-loss programs, smoking cessation aids and fitness center memberships are also provided to both full- and part-time employees. Additionally, between now and August 31, Stew Leonard’s will give staff members up to $500 in Benefit Bucks – or money towards their deductible – to encourage them to visit their doctor for their annual check-up.
