SANTA BARBARA, Calif.–Brewed Teeccino contains no detectable trace of gluten at the lowest possible level of measurement (5 parts per million), according to tests conducted by the University of Nebraska’s food allergy testing lab. The company noted although its Teeccino Herbal Coffee contains barley, which contains gluten, when it is brewed using a paper filter and a drip coffee maker, the result is a gluten-free beverage. Teeccino is also organic and Kosher.
Teeccino CEO Caroline MacDougall said, “When I created Teeccino, my goal was to make a beverage that is a healthy and delicious alternative for people with all sorts of health concerns, including: caffeine sensitivity, acid reflux, pregnancy, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anxiety and heart conditions. We originally tested Teeccino for gluten in 2005, and the results were the same. Now, the new tests that can detect gluten at much lower levels reconfirm these results. This will help assure those on a gluten-free diet that they can enjoy the taste and many health benefits of Teeccino."
According to Ashley Vincenti, Teeccino’s office manager, “We often receive calls and e-mails from people who are gluten-intolerant yet are concerned because Teeccino contains barley. Now that we have even more stringent scientific evidence that brewed Teeccino is gluten free, I feel confident that I can assure these consumers that Teeccino is a safe choice for them when brewed with a paper filter or a Tee-bag."
Teeccino Herbal Coffee comes in 10 flavors including Vanilla Nut, Mocha, Hazelnut, Chocolate, Chai, Almond Amaretto, Caffé and Java.
